MDB Common Projects

  • ADB Promoting Smart Drinking Water Management in South Asian Cities

The Smart Water Management (SWM)-based waterworks efficiency strategies are implemented in four Southeast Asian countries: Bangladesh, India, Nepal, and Sri Lanka.
Major details include diagnosis of existing facilities and identification of potential problems, introduction of technology for advanced operation (establishment of a SWM pilot system), establishment of long-term management strategies, and capability-building education.
These projects will be operated for four years between 2016 and 2019. As of 2016, the project is being implemented in Dhaka, the capital city of Bangladesh. By 2019, four cities will be selected to receive knowhow on SWM strategies by K-Water.
